Qualche nota...

Dietro questa sigla si nasconde un’accolita di musicisti krauta, strettamente imparentata con Poets Of Rhythm e Whitefield Brothers.
Il leader – Karl Hector – vanta un’unica oscura pubblicazione nel 1996, un 45 giri accreditato ai misteriosi Funk Pilots.
Escono per Now Again, sussidiaria di Stones Throw, e migliore asilo davvero non potevano trovare per il loro incendiario ibrido tra afro beat, funk e psichedelia.
Dopo il viaggio strumentale di Heliocentrics con Sahara Swing approdiamo in una dimensione parallela e futurista, dove il groove può indubbiamente ricordare i mostri sacri del passato ma gettare le basi per nuove sfrenate danze e rare grooves destinati a restare. Siamo su di un’ipotetica direttiva che da James Brown porta a Fela Kuti, passando per gli arabeschi strumentali di Mulatu Astatke of Ethiopia e le invenzioni del produttore/arrangiatore Jean Claude Vannier (un tempo spalla destra di Serge Gainsbourg). E’ una musica istintiva, che trascina lentamente, mettendo in relazioni mille e più mondi della cultura black. E gli esecutori vantano un curriculum inappuntabile, tanto che sia Poets Of Rhythm che Whitefield Brothers hanno a più riprese collaborato con Dj Shadow, Lyics Born, Mo’ Wax, Ninja Tune, BBE, Daptone e Compost.
